nicE1
I still firmly believe that there are places like that even here in the UK! if you think about it! it`s logical! there where thousands of planes that suddenly found themselves surplus to requirements! quite literally the day the war ended! I remember my granddad telling me about a guy was doing the rounds in London pubs back then! trying to sell spitfires for £25 each! and he wasn't one to be known to tell porkies! so I`m sure if there was one bloke trying to make a quick buck out of surplus planes! or any other type of surplus military equipment come to that! there must of been others! so what did they do with the planes and other things they didn't manage to sell!! makes you think!!. Col.
Am I the only one that wishes they'd find something a little more out of the ordinary buried somewhere? Perhaps a Halifax or a Stirling, a Wyvern, perhaps a Hornet or even a Seafire I/II/III at a push?

Perhaps a Halifax or a Stirling, a Wyvern, perhaps a Hornet or even a Seafire I/II/III at a push? It'd be a darn big hole for a Stirling! Anyone seen any unusual humps in fields around old RAF sites?! It would be nice though wouldn't it? Rick
nicE1
I`m sure most of us are familiar with this story of the spits buried in Burma! but does anyone remember this story?! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/world-war-two/9732585/Is-there-a-squadron-of-Spitfires-buried-in-Birmingham.html

HAMP man
About twenty years ago I drove for one of the marshals at the Thuxton race track, and heard a rumour that after the war a hole was dug near what is now the back straight and a load of Merlins from scrapped Mosquitos were buried there. Rick Brown
With the price of metal as it is these days I'm sure if we really believed all these "Flights of Fantasy" we'd be digging like mad by now! Where's me shovel...... Rick.
