dfqweofekwpeweiop4
Getting back to the original topic, I have a further question about the Egyptian Mig-15's. What colour were the wheel well interiors on Egyptian MiG-15s? thanks Mike
Jennings Heilig
The MiG-15bis in the collection of the NMUSAF, which is absolutely original and unrestored (the airplane was nearly brand new when No Kim Suk defected in 1953) is a dark-ish medium grey, as are the gear struts and the cockpit. Col.
The Czech example at East Fortune has its wheel wells painted in a silver grey colour with a good layer of dirt coating them.
dfqweofekwpeweiop4
The instructions in the Eduard kit say Light Grey but that's obviously for Czech MiGs. I was wondering if the Egyptians did anything else. thanks Mike
Tom Cooper
Getting back to the original topic, I have a further question about the Egyptian Mig-15's. What colour were the wheel well interiors on Egyptian MiG-15s? thanks Mike According to recollections of their former pilots and technicians, and when it comes to 80 Czechoslovak-built MiG-15bis' delievered in period October-December 1955 (these were the only MiG-15bis' in Egyptian service as of October/November 1956): - Internal surfaces of aircraft received a coating of lacquer without aluminium powder, thus appearing gold-tinted as result. Whether this changed, later on, is a different story. I'm not sure if I have colour photos of wheel bays of Egyptian MiG-15s from those times: But I did take few photos of wheel bays of Iraqi MiG-15s and MiG-17s on display at the IrAF Museum (Green Zone in Baghad). Just can't find them right now...
Enzo the Magnificent
Mike, you've obviously started to build this kit. How are you finding it? I've been astonished by the level of detail in the cockpit. It's like a tiny gem!
