Albeback52
What do you think gang? An STGB for the English Electric Lightning. You can count me in Col!! One of my future projects will be a "what if" single engine Lightning. Would that be ok or, perhaps be more appropriate for the next "what if" G B? Enzo the Magnificent
I'm up for that. But how about waiting until after the release of the Airfix 1/72 kit? I like to enjoy GBs and wouldn't want to have to deal with that hideous Trumpeter monstrosity...

SaintsPhil
I'm up for this, got the lovely 1/48 Airfix kit in the stash. This one would be second half of next year I would imagine so the new 1/72 kit will be here by then, I do hope it's as good as the new harriers!
Kallisti
I've just spent this afternoon masking up my 1:48 airfix one, but since this will ne later next year I might be persuaded - the Airfix kit is a beauty and I would be happy to build another in late 80s 5 Sqn colours

Given the progression we've seen in recebt years, it's very likely to be better!
Tim T
Let me think. Is there anything in the stash that is 1/48 Airfix Lightning shaped? I do believe there is!

Col.
Better start a list gang. We need 15 interested names in order to be in with a chance and a co-moderator. Furthermore we need kits so let's also make list of what's out there or iminent. I'll edit the first post to include both. If anyone happens to include a some photos of previous builds or the real machine for inspiration I'm sure no-one will object to seeing those either As Phil says this one will most likely occur in the latter half of 2014 which gives us plenty time for the Airfix 72nd scale kit to arrive and perhaps even Iain's correction set for the 32nd scale Trumpeter abomonation kit. I've no objection to What-ifs, be they a change of colour scheme/operating nation or an unbuilt project/figment of your imagination, so long as they are at least recognisable as a variant of the machine.

trickyrich
here we go again......... have always wanted to build a Lightning, so i guess here's my chance. Not so keen on the NMF schemes, the thought of trying to get that perfect finish doesn't appeal! So camouflaged it will be. So who makes a good 1/48th version?? Giorgio N
Please count me in ! I'm not the best when it comes to finishing models for Group Builds lately, but at least you can count on my model being started... Having the GB after the arrival of the new 1/72 airfix it would sure be best, would make things easier for us 1/72 lovers. Not that I lack Lightnings as last year I bought several Matchbox ones and an aeroclub T.4 conversion
Swamp Donkey
I think I built 8 or 9 Airfix 1/48 scale Lightnings when that kit was first released (how long ago? - I know I was married to the first Mrs Swamp Donkey then, so must have been late 90's, early 2000's)......will see if I can dig them out and photograph them........may take a while.....
