gunpowder17
I am thinking of getting a Z gauge starter set for Xmas. Does anyone have one , are there any drawbacks to this scale?
roymattblack
Flippin' expensive, and very little made in this scale. There's an even smaller scale called 'T' scale. Galaxy models in Ipswich had a layout running in a display cabinet. The track was 3mm gauge, and the loco's were about 20mm long....... You can get it here: http://www.tgauge.com/ Personally, I'd go for N gauge if you want tiny stuff. At least there is lots made to work with. Roy. RNoAF Aerobatic Team
I currently run on H0 scale, but I would agree with Roy and saying a N scale layout would be better. Z scale is not as available as N scale either.
gunpowder17
Ive had a few N gauge layouts before but the size of Z gauge really appealed to me. There are starter sets on ebay for around the 90 quid mark , but as you say there are more items in N gauge.
Madmonk
I went through the same dilemma about 12 months ago and ended up going with N gauge as there was much more available and at reasonable prices. The plan is to build a 3' by 1.5' layout. Cheers, Warren
charley420
I too was tempted by z scale, microtrains have alot of american stock. But i decided on N as its small enough for almost full length trains yet big enough to see.
