Dermo245
I seem to have built more old/obsolete kits over the last two years than new ones - here's some of 'em (all 1/72) Airfix GR3 Harrier Airfix (ex PM) Focke Wolf FW-154 'Moskito' Airfix P-51D (Old mould) from the Duxford Gift Set.. Airfix P-38J (yes, that ancient one) Airfix Sea King Now to dig something out for this GB! Dermot Edited September 29, 2013 by Dermo245
Speedman
I had a dig out of my old kits this morning All built 1986-2000, painted with a hairy stick and decals applied with nothing but good old water! I'll include the original release date because some of them shocked me! Monogram 1/72 Tigercat (1967) Esci 1/72 F-104 (1980) Tamiya 1/35 Panzerkampfwagen II Ausf.F/G (1960s) Proof that I build some stuff without wings or rotors... Hasegawa 1/72 P-40N (1977) Converted to an operational "what-if" P-40Q. Donor prop and wingtips from an Italeri P-51D, scratchbuilt cockpit and a crash moulded canopy. Hasegawa 1/72 P-47D (1970s) Converted to a two seat trainer, scratchbuilt cockpit and crash moulded canopy. LS 1/144 F-4E (1970s) Delta "what-if" Matchbox 1/72 F-104 (1975) "What-if" based on the German experimental CCV F-104, I added a few bits and a F-111 exhaust. Airfix 1/72 SR.53 (1958) Operational "what-if" with wingtip rails, LERX & refuelling probe. Esci 1/72 F-16A (1983) US Navy "whit-if". Folded wings, beefed up main gear, twin nose gear with bar. It did have decals but a few years ago they were peeling so I just removed the lot. Matchbox 1/72 Hawk (1975) Possibly my favourite "what-if" build to date. Moved the kit wings to the rear, double cranked them and added wing tip rails. Moved the main gear back and beefed it up, changed the nose gear to twin wheel, added canyards, radar warning receivers, IR sighting system and radar... Col.
Gadzooks! What abomnable kits of ancient lore have we bestowed upon each other my leige knaves? Here, for thy approval, I most humbly proffer a small token of battles past. Airfix Bullfinches (1976?) old but without a modern replacement Tamiya Stegausarus (late 70s I think) most certainly outdated due to advances in understanding of the creature following the discovery of a substancially intact skeleton in the 80s known as the 'Road-kill' specimen Airfix Spitfire Vb (1974) converted to a Seafire III
Enzo the Magnificent
Esci 1/72 F-104 (1980) That old?!?!? And it's still a good kit. I have three of the Italeri boxing in The Stash.

Mike
I finished this one not-so-long-ago, and although the kit isn't really that old, it shows its age when compared with the new Hobby Boss kits, and would scare the bejeesus out of a novice modeller thinking that Dragon kits were the way to go Good luck with the GB me ducks!
mike romeo
And in the absence of any personal modelling progress on this GB (I plan to start at the weekend, honest!) here are some more 1/72md oldies of mine: Revell Ju88C-6 nachtjager Heller Spitfire Mk XVI Airfix 'Grand Slam' Lancaster Matchbox Spitfire Mk IX Matchbox Mosquito PR.XVI The last two are what's been preventing me from participating on this GB thus far! regards, Martin
stevej60
All great Martin but those last two matchbox kits are outstanding makes me think we didn,t have it as bad as we sometimes think in the "old" days.
Smiffy
All great Martin but those last two matchbox kits are outstanding makes me think we didn,t have it as bad as we sometimes think in the "old" days. Absolutely. I actually quite like the MB Mossie and have a number of Neil's conversions for it, safely stashed away.
chrisrope
I'd love a Matchbox Mosquito but they're so hard to get reasonably priced. Hint hint Airfix, give us an affordable modern mossie

English Electric
Ooh! just seen that lovely 335! That's the old Frog kit isn't it? A really nice piece of work and a good kit too...
Jessica
No, it's the nearly as old Monogram 1/48 kit. Not quite as friendly to build as the Frog...
English Electric
I stand corrected then! Never seen the Monogram one - it was the markings that threw me, as they came with a similar option on the Frog kit... Nice work C
