Three P-51 kits: A-36A, Mustang Mk.IA and Mk.III 1/72

Recommended Posts

Beautiful as always. I really love the added rivet lines.

The Starkey Ia "G": the hispanos didn't have exposed recoil springs (those yours look very finely made), see photo of this aircraft on page 628 of 2TAF (Vol 4)- in fact I think all Ia's lacked these? I have made this aircraft from the same kit, and yours definitely looks at least one scale larger!

There was a thread on here about the PRU blue Mk III, but I never saw the one photo upon which this was colour scheme based- do you have the photo, and is it going in the Valiant Wings book?

They are some of the nicest Stangs ever seen on this website.. And there have been many beautiful kits shown..

I love all of them, however that Apache paintwork Olive Drab application is just outstanding..

Hopefully I will live long enough and practice long enough to achieve these types of results one day.

Cheers.. Dave

Thanks chaps!

For Ben_M: thanks, I have the Vol.4 of 2TAF, but I wanted to show those lovely resin barrels with recoil springs from QB. The 541.squadron Mustang is based on information provided by Colin Ford (elsewhere on BM and HS forums). Cant't say if the photo will appear in the book, though.

Cheers

Stunning Mustangs. Superb work as ever Libor!

I have that Condor A-36A, builds into a lovely kit. Also went to town on the Italeri Mk.1 kit in a similar fashion, with some minor improvements, added the oblique camera & brass gun barrels.

Looks like you have a similar liking to me!

You always seem to give your models a fine satin finish that doesn't reflect light too much, very much in relation to the scale.

What final lacquer do you spray your models with?

Gotta love this trio! The PRU blue Mustang is very intriguing, I've not seen that one before.

I figure that "Libor" is actually an acronym. It stands for Lovely Incredible Beautiful Outstanding Replicas! :):):)

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks everyone for kind comments, much appreciated gents!
Martin, agree the Condor kit is pretty good despite its age. Well, can't help myself, but any Mustang looks the best with roundels :-)
As for the final laquer, I mix Mr.Color Matte and Gloss (the Super Clear III) to get a semi-matte; the ratio depends how much matte I want (thinned with Gunze Levelling Thinner).
Cheers Bill

:thanks:
