DominikS
Hi everybody As in the title I'm looking for the photos of those two pilots' aircraft. I have A.Price's book Spitfire Mk.I/II Aces where I found a very small photo of Spitfire Mk.I QJ-S from Pembrey. Unfortunately it's not very clear and it doesn't show much detail, especially the shape of code letters. Does anyone have better quality photo of this aircraft. The other pilot I'm interested in is Ted Brister. I found one photo on http://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/people/staff/djb/92squadron/ but it doesn't show the whole plane. Can anyone help me to solve the serect of the name on the tank? Is it Tuppny or Tuppmy? Thanks for help. Dominik
gingerbob
I would guess (only that) that it's "Tuppny" like "Tuppence" (two-penny). It certainly looks "N-ish" to me. Anyway, that's my tuppence worth. bob
greatgonzo
I wouldn't see an 'M' here even if I wanted to . This one? I'm in no mood to go downstairs for the book http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/lasermonkey/92-sqn-spits.jpg Code letters shape. Summer 1940 too. I should say the last Spitfire in the pic above is the very same craft. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v634/Mark12/Album%204/1-N3249QJ-P001a.jpg Edited September 15, 2013 by greatgonzo

She was repaired and went to 602 in November. S/R6596 is Alan Wright's,so you'd best check first bob,but if he says yes, then I'll borrow Titch's at the far end. DominikS
So do you mean that the shape of the "hook" in letter Q was the same as in Havercroft's Spitfire during the Battle? I know some photos taken after the battle wher the "hook" had different shape (as in Mk Vb QJ-S). So it's Tuppny - thanks for help. So now only to find the photos of this airplane. Sean_M
I am trying to put together a list of aircraft during the BoB for the "Famous Few" A. Wright G. Wellum B. Kincombe There are over 600 names, but I am trying to wittle it down to my next MkI or perhaps even MkII (in 1/32) project This link show climbing out of a Spit that is not in the normal QJ markings http://sirius1935.wix.com/92squadron#!ww-2/cj2j Could anyone comment on the correctness of this page: http://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Spitfire/MkI-RAF-92Sqn-QJ.html Thanks
