I've been looking for a 1:350 Flower class corvette, by Mirage-Hobby, to build but found that there are two; HMS Zinnia and HMS Anchusa.

Can anyone who has these kits confirm whether they are both the same kit or do they contain different sprues etc? If they are separate then what are the differences in the kits?

cheers

Mike...i've only got Zinnia however the same question was asked on shipmodels forum. Link http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=127309&sid=af673dac9f65cec113290eb2c174cd30&start=0

The following was posted as a reply - I think this may be based on pictures of the box art. If you can find photos of the sprues it may help confirm.

I see the following differences:
1. Bridge wings. One is rounded, other is square. Of course, what's being moulded as bulkheads should be railings with canvas covering and mattress shielding.
2. Searchlight platform above/aft/port of the compass bridge: one is rounded, the other is squared.
3. Depth charge area: one has two derricks (one on either side of the racks - if they are what I know them to be on Canadian Flowers, they're minesweeping derricks), the other has a single in between the racks. Different liferafts arrangement.
4. Trapezoidal vertical bulwark extension near the K-guns: one has them, the other does not.
5. Galley stovepipe: one has it coming from midships structure between funnel and bridge, the other does not appear to have it at all.
6. Features on midship structure between funnel and bridge: the bumps are arranged differently.

I think they're both the narrow bridge.

I hope this helps P

hi Pete,

I am sceptical about unsubstantiated responses, such as the one quoted on Shipmodels forum; especially in this case where the writer is possibly discussing the box-art as the reference. We all know the value of that, as the Revell box-arts of the 1:48 Wessex HAS.3 and Queen's Flight alluded to!

I really would like to find someone who has both kits, or two people who have one of each, that could take photos and post them on here for us to see and compare.

The nearest model shops, for me are over 35 miles away so can't just pop down there to have a look, that's if they even have them in stock.

Thanks for your help though Pete.

cheers

No problem Mike. Though knowing the posters knowledge on the subject I'm happy to believe what he says.

May be a co-incidence but this review says pretty much the same http://models.primeportal.net/?p=1848

Whether they arrived at their differences independently, co-operated or copied, who can say. Any way the review has some pretty good shots of sprues, instructions etc. So may help.

As I said I have Zinnia so if some one has Anchusa then photos can be organised, though judging by the size of some of the parts seeing them may be difficult!!

Excellent!

I can now check these out to see if these are actually different kits.

Thanks

Thanks guys,

they both have separate items for different versions so I now have the confidence to go and get both kits. Hopefully they will be available at future shows.

Thanks again for your responses and advice

cheers
