swordfish fairey
Bought this Airfix Mogul for £1.50 from our local 'Clic' charity shop in Yeovil...Only the tender partly started and it looks to have been assembled using Evo-stick. I have added flanges to the middle drivers using a compass cutter and Plasti-card as well as deepening the valences on the side....Also the moulded in handrails have come off.. Got rid of the plastic coal and added a few details..... A bit of grey primer and it will be ready for the paint shop.............. It must be all of 30 years since I built one of these............Smudge
colin
What a difference a coat of primer makes to the build, shaping up to be a cracker
prowler0000
Back in 1980, i had the Morning Star kit: Not cutting edge even then, but i enjoyed it & wouldn't mind another crack at one! Nice hunting there, Smudge! & nice work so far...
swordfish fairey
Had a touch of the "Man flu" over the last couple of days, so have been able to get some serious modelling time in. The mogul has had a coat of gloss black and some weathering to start it off... I have painted the wheel flanges and added some boiler banding using red Scotch-cal.......... I must try and get hold of some BR logos from Fox as the kit ones are not only naff but unusable too...... Smudge

heloman1
Nice find Smudge, if you ever see the Bayer-Garret, I'm looking for one. Ha! Colin
Mal
It's looking good, you are knocking an old kit into shape,I guess the original kit must date from the very early sixties, which would not of been long after the prototype entered service with BR.I don't know what the artist was thinking but the locomotive in the box artwork has no forward coupling rod and no union link, might have had a bit of difficulty moving under it's own power. Max Headroom
Oh look it's a target! Seriously, that's a nice build. You've encouraged me to venture into a charity shop to see what gems lie within. Trevor
stevecombeboy
Looking good, Smudge! I do wish Airfix/Dapol had released all the old Kitmaster stuff - the coaches were excellent, as far as I remember. Steve
