jeewee Posted September 7, 2013 Share Posted September 7, 2013 hello, finally some time in the mancave. i started the old dragon he-219 a while back and now its ready for paint. apart from a eduard set in the cockpit this one is straight from the box. with the exception of the lead in the engine nacelles and aft of the cockpit... i found that when joining the fuselage halves there was a slight mismatch. but that was solved by removing the male joining pins on one side of the fuselage. after that only some putty was required to clean up some seams. primary paint is on, so now the fun can begin. i need to clean up the scheme with the airbrush and paint the underside. but that can be done in one single session. i made a mask for the camo and sprayed it on. the colours on the photos look a little reddish, that is a camera thinghy i need to sort out. thanks for looking, jw Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jeewee Posted September 8, 2013 Author Share Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) @duncan, the total weight of the model as it is now is 106grams. i am not sure how much i put in but i used a spare piece of roofing lead i had lying around the garage. i cut that in strips and tried to fit as many as possible. that resulted in strenghtening the main gear constuction, because the wheel well part is almost floating in its nacelle. i added a peice of sprue serving as a restraining spar. i guess that if i hadn't put that in it will bent inwards once the model is completed. i placed the lead in the engine nacelles and behind the radar operator. @mike, i copied a section of the manual from the tamiya paint guide of their 1/48 model. shrunk it to 1/72 and printed it out. i started cutting out the spots and 2 days later i had a mask. just make sure you stop when you get fed up with it : ) jw Edited September 8, 2013 by jeewee 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

jeewee Posted September 14, 2013 Author Share Posted September 14, 2013 (edited) hello, small update. paint is on and adjusted where needed. decals also on. now wheatering can begin. i am planning to display this one with the canopy open. that was really nerve wrecking. never done that before. just saw open a perfectly good closed canopy. i think i will need to do some work on the front part of the windshield because there is a armored glass plate and metal shield installed with the gunsight. so some scratchbuilding afterall. jw Edited September 14, 2013 by jeewee Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
