P-51 after WW2

Many countries used the Mustang after world war 2, even the USA. I bought an Airfix quick build P-51D but want to do it in a post-WW2 scheme with standard decals that I dont have to order or make. Please, any suggestions would be welcome. Btw I was thinking Navy (US or UK) and COIN aircraft (US or UK).

Thanks

When you say 'standard decals', do you mean what's in the kit or what you have spare?

Google F-51 and go from there. It's pointless asking folk for suggestion on how to get somewhere when you don't know where you're going. Once you leave the 'comfort zone' of the in box decals, your first task is research.

How about a Rhodesian Air Force F-51D circa 1976 in dark earth/dark green camouflage and dark earth undersides? The only markings would be a serial number on the rear fuselage. Rhodesia was desperate to get aircraft and it would not stretch reality too much to envisage some being purchased from one of the South American air forces in the early 1970s.

Just a thought.
