Paolo james
Please forgive me if its been posted before but have a look here:http://ipmsphilippines.com/test-shots/trumpeter-1350-hms-daring-type-45-destroyer/ Not sure how it will compare to the Airfix offering
Shar2
Interesting. It certainly looks simpler than the Airfix kit.

AntPhillips
It sure does have a completely different take on how to build up the superstructure, having already got an Airfix Daring underway I'll wait for better photos or a build review before deciding which route to go for the next one. Geoff_B
Looks more inspired by the Dragon 1/700 kit than the Airfix 1/350th
Paolo james
Does it look like it will be a easier or harder build though
AntPhillips
Hard to tell from the pics so far, but the Airfix kit isn't a difficult build, the only problems I've heard or read about is when an assembly sequence other than that in the Airfix instructions has been used, and as with most kits a dry fit before glueing exposes any potential pit falls. Julien
Airfix had access to an actual ship, I doubt Trumpter did. Julien
Truro Model Builder
Airfix had access to an actual ship, I doubt Trumpter did. Julien You don't think the MoD would have been happy for Chinese nationals to have boarded a Type 45 and measured it up, then?

Hello there, I agree with Ant about the out-of-sequence building hitches (from experience!) but nothing untoward ultimately, although I thought there was at the time. I was certainly happy with my Airfix one in the end. All the best, Ray
terryn
Chaps Not sure if this is new news but I've just picked up a Trumpeter Type 45 in Tokyo. It cost me 6.500 Yen that around £40 in real money. I haven't seen the Airfix kit so can't compare the two. It looks very nice in the box and many of the large superstructure parts look to have been slide moulded and are packed in separate bags. hopefully this will make assembly of the complex shapes easier. AntPhillips
There are sprue pics up on the Trumpy website now too, decals are for Daring only, so expect multiple releases as they are doing with the Type 23, so if you have an Airfix kit you can use the spare decal options.
