AdrianMF
Hello All, Here's my Academy Airacobra. More or less out of the box, except: * Open out nose wheel fork * Box in nose wheel well * Add a nose weight * Replace moulded in fuselage guns * Foil and wire belts and buckles * Move rudder * Vac-form front half of canopy after unfortunate accident! Humbrol 155 over Hu34+Hu27 with dirtied Hu34 white bits. Weathering was by drybrushing lighter shades, followed by acrylic brown/grey wash. It's a really nice kit with no problems that I didn't create for myself... Thanks for looking, Adrian

VG 33
Very nice. I'm on a RS Models P-39N at the moment. Thank you for sharing. Patrick
AdrianMF
Thanks! The Heller one is meant to be the "inspiration" for the Academy kit, which has engraved panel lines and wheel wells but is otherwise similar. There are apparently quite a few shape issues with the Heller and Academy kits (including tailplane trailing edge, wing leading edge sweep and tips, rudder width) but the profile looked OK to me (holding up the kit against a side view photo) and I ignored the other issues. I imagine the RS models kit is more accurate than the Heller/Academy/Zvezda/Hobbyboss family. I had fun building it (apart from the self inflicted canopy problem) so I hope you guys do too! Spitfire31
Thoroughly impressive handling of that discreet but very effective weathering of the OD surfaces! Great build! I was convinced it was 1:48th until I double checked. Kind regards, Joachim

Regards, Adrian Fun!, you do modelling for fun! Now theres a novel idea, can't see it ever catching on though. Jokes aside, thats a nice job of the P-39 & any issues aside it sure looks the part, I'd be more than happy with an effort like that. Steve.
