Hi Everyone,

Here is my ready for inspection thread for the Revell 1:24 scale Vodafone McLaren Mercedes MP4-25 in Jensen Button's colours that I have been working on. I suppose this really should be a ready for inspection sort of thread....

I still have 3 decals to apply to the car when the replacements arrive from Revell for the ones which split during the application phase.

Anyway onto the photos (I will take final photos when the 3 missing decals have been applied, will be somewhere between 4 and 6 weeks).

Considering this is the first model of something which doesn't float or fly at the speed of sound, I am quite impressed with the way this came out. I will be looking to buy the new Revell 1:24 Red Bull Racing RB8 Formula 1 car in Mark Webber's colours when it becomes available in November (probably be one of my christmas presents).

Thanks for looking everyone.

Comments welcomed.

A really nice result on a fairly fiddly kit.

When the Revell Red Bull comes along they will make a nice pair.

All the best, Roy.

P.S.... See my message to you on the 'build' thread of your model.

Cheers Houston,

I am happy with this kit. Working on another kit at the moment with my wife. This one has wings and 4 engines.

Cheers,

Hello Rick, good job on this one! I will look forward to seeing the shots when the final transfers are on. Great to see you enjoying a good variety of subjects too.

Cheers Ray,

I enjoyed building this car

I am definately enjoying a variety of subjects at the moment - lifeboat, formula 1 car, Vulcan xh558, SR-71 Blackbird all completed in the last couple of weeks and now I am working on the decals for a B1B Lancer bomber. I have done about 30% of them at the moment.

I will be back to sci-fi stuff in a couple of days painting and decaling USS Enterprise E and USS Voyager.

All the best,

Rick

Hello Rick.

Without being impertinent, can I ask (even approx) your age?

I'm guessing you are one of our younger members and it's always great to get 'new blood' in the model making hobby.

Can't wait to see your Red Bull car.......

All the best, Roy.

Hi Roy,

I am 32. I have been back into the hobby for approximately 3 years after a 20 year break from the hobby.

I can't wait to do the Red bull myself, but I have to get the remainder of my stash finished before I can get that one for Christmas.

All the best, Rick

The replacement decals from Revell have arrived, so I will be taking this model back up to my desk to apply the missing decals.

New photos to follow after an attempt with decalsol (thanks to roymattblack).

Its finished. Replacement decals are applied. Thanks to roymattblack for the decalsol which helped me fit the largest decal on the nose of the car.

Photos tomorrow.

Hi Rick

Thank you for your kind words and to Graham (Nobby57).

Sadly the Kit I messed up is now somewhere in the council tip. I wish I had joined Britmodeller sooner as I could

have kept what I had and shown everyone. It was only the back wing assembly that I ruined but I got very frustrated

and ditched the lot. I made the Mclarin Mercedes last year and was very pleased with it but the Red Bull was perhaps

beyond me. Forgive me but I am still trying the find my way around the forums etc and could only find you via my e mail.

In the past I used to make grand prix cars and have a small collection. In those days the engines were very detailed and

you could see them on the finished model, today they seem to be hidden.

Anyway perhaps you would get in touch again when you have finished your present kits. I don't know whether to buy a

new kit and try again or get a skilled modeller like yourself to do for me. It was a Christmas present from my son and

he keeps asking me how its coming along.

Thanks again for replying and perhaps you could keep in touch

Regards

Tom.

Hi Tom,

Thats ok.

I will certainly keep in touch, I am hoping to get a lot of progress on my red bull over the weekend.

Regards,

Rick
