HL-10 Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I had an idea for a diorama and started to plan, and build for it a while back. Alas, my idea was for something that would be too big and two models had to be left off. The building started off as Airfix's desert out post. I thickened the walls with plastic card and rebuilt the roof with balsa and wooden drink stirrers. The figures are a mixture of Tamiya, Dragon, and Tristar. The base is a canvas picture base on to which I added card and general purpose filler. The base was painted with Humbrol enamels and weathered with washes and pigments. The matt varnish didn't matt the paint which is why it looks more like a beach or just after a heavy down pour so, I will have to give the base another cote of varnish. greenshot free download images screenshot screenshot app screen shots green shot screen capture screen shot on windows how to capture screen how to make screen shot screen shot on pc small screenshot software image hosting more than 5mb 20mb image hosting print screen img Thanks for looking. 2

Silver Fox Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 I assume you photographed this outside. The composition and lighting are great and the diorama really tells a story. 1
woody37 Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 That looks great. I'm wanting to do more dioramas, so find this hugely inspiring 1
Colin W Posted August 23, 2013 Posted August 23, 2013 this is very good. The pose and painting of the figures is superb. I actually like the look of the sand. The 'just rained look' helps to explain the lack of dust everywhere. Great work. Colin 2
billybookcase Posted August 24, 2013 Posted August 24, 2013 Superb dio and natural looking figures, and excellent depth of field on the photographs to give it an even more realistic look. BB 1
foxy Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Lovely Dio there and lots to see. Have the VW and like what you have done to it. Well the effect of the ground is fine, as it rains out there and it can be heavy at times. Like the building, so natural. Cheers foxy 1
Spookytooth Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 Very nicely done, it captures a scene played out many times in North Africa. 2
