I can't say that I like them Tamiya decals. Very fragile and tear easy...

It was a nice front canopy....unfortunately my cats liked it too...the eat both of them leaving me with nothing...

Luckily I won another spit on ebay so I'll use spare canopy to finish this one..

The problem I've got is the silvering decals.. Is there anything that I can use to remove them without damaging the paint job?

Couple of things to try. Use a pin and gentleman's parts the decals. Then apply a setting solution such as Micro Sol. Tamiya thinners works as well but is a bit more aggressive and you need to be careful of your paint. There is a nuclear option but it is definitely a last result. If you have either Gunze Mr Cement S or Tamiya Extra Thin Glue you can use this. It is an absolute last resort though.

Good looking Spit by the way!

Did you apply a gloss coat before applying the decals? Or did you apply the decals straight onto the paintwork?

I did use a gloss coat but it was something that a guy in Hannants recommended to me... That was a bad idea... I need to remove the decals and put another layer of humbrol gloss which is far better than the one I used.

I have got plenty of spare decals for this plane but don't want to ruin my paint job. If that's the only way then so be it but there is hope :)

Thanks, I'll try that as soon as I have some time ;)

Dude, you can easily remove the decals witout any damage to your paint. Just use Tamiya Tape, lay it over your decals, press it in and just pull the tape up it will lift the decal with no problem. Then wipe the model down with a tac cloth and recoat with Future...apply decals after the Future has dried/cured over night, reapply your new decals, use a setting solution, let dry over night, check for silvering, if any, pin gentleman's parts the area, add setting solution, let dry, and re apply future to seal/blend in the decals and flat coat...HTH!!!
