Westland Whirlwind HAR1 HMS Protector

Recommended Posts

This is HMS Protector flight Whirlwind HAR1 using the 1/72nd Italeri UH19A Rescue Chickasaw and Rotorcraft HAR 1 brass etch and

white metal conversion, I substituted the winch supplied for one more suited to a HAR1. Also on checking the internet I think the Penguin decals on the nose should be facing each other rather than as supplied.

Love the Whirlwind in this scheme. Your model reminds me of the first kit I ever built, the old Airfix Whirlwind, which came with these markings. Love it!

Where did you get the kit? I can only find it for greatly exaggerated prices.

Its one I had in the stash, I think I got it of Ebay a while ago, they seem to be quite rare now which would account for the inflated prices, I've got one

left in the stash which will end up as a HAR 9 eventually.

This is a lovely build. It looks very industrial in this livery and you can easily imagine it hovering above the bitter north sea. Great stuff.
