noeyedears
this is the Hasegawa 1/48 kit. A nice kit but no ordinance except tip tanks, which is a cheap shot. extras include Aires burner, wheel bays (plus a bit of extra plumbing), and pit (bit of a waste but never mind) , metal pitot, eduard aim 9b's, and resin tanks and pylons and pilot. most of this is foiled but the back bit and tanks are Alclads, the rest Xtracrylic. homebrew tail art decal. I have never done an in-flight model so thought I would go the whole hog and try one with gear in transit too, which hasn't come out too bad. This meant having to open up the suction doors as well which I didn't enjoy and are only a qualified success. I tried to shop out the stand (home made too) as it is distracting, as is the background I'm afraid. Right clicking the pic in flikr gives the option to view full size if you wish. Have noticed the ifr probe needs re-seating (its not glued ) which will be done.

JeffreyK
Man, that's great!!! Altering the F-104 main gear to "in transit" must have been quite a challenge with the wheels pivoting and all. Great finish s well! All it needs now is a big flame out the back... Love it! Jeffrey
noeyedears
Bokeh. ?.. Had to google that. it was a 90mm macro lens so you werent far out :-) The gear started out as two bits per side and ended up as fifteen i think as all the links had to be cut and new struts of the right length had to be made. Was "fun" but i wont be doing that again for a bit ;-)

noeyedears
Thanks for the kind comments, all. The hasegawa f104 gear is well moulded and interesting too look at. all the pivot points are easily found and cut. Youtube supplied videos of the gear in motion. its the only time you get to model the main doors fully open too.

Bill Bunting
Very nice finish and the landing gear in transit is very neat. It gives a sense of motion to the model and it also is very intriguing the way it all folds in. Very nice!
