Selwyn
Is the Chinese Shenyang J-8-II fighter a copy of the SU 15 Flagon? I just noticed that they look very similar. Selwyn
Stephen
It's not, the J-8 is a development from the MiG-21 airframe but you're correct they do look very alike. Stephen
Flankerman
The Shenyang J-8 is a totally indigenous Chinese design - basically a scaled-up MiG-21 with twin engines..... A few of my pics, taken during a visit to Beijing in 2010.... it was then developed into the J-8-II - with radar nose and side-mounted intakes.....(in the background) This is the variant that looks a bit like a Su-15. The latest variant is the J-8F - this one photographed at the Zhuhai airshow..... This J-8DF was photographed at the 2012 Zhuhai show.....
