theplasticsurgeon Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Planning to build this kit - bought for a whole pound at Telford 1999. This kit was part of a load that IPMS Avon were selling - without boxes. Has decals for these options - with which I might refurbish my Airfix Viking. Planning to use these Bi-Centennial decals for this project. 1
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Painted and assembled the cockpit. This kit has tinted canopy - so I'm not certain if this will be visible.
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 And now I've assembled the airframe and dryfitted the canopy.
Jockster Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Does this kit have a wing fold option or does that require some major surgery?
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 No wing fold option with this kit.
Jabba Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Does this kit have a wing fold option or does that require some major surgery? Apart from major surgery, the only other option is the wing fold set from Wolfpack Design. That is a rather good colour scheme that you are doing, keep up the god work.
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 17, 2013 Author Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) Funny story about painting this - that should teach me something.Today I bought a White aerosol from a pound shop - which is actually a very very very very pale green Won't be buying that one again! hacker Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Does this kit have a wing fold option or does that require some major surgery? Wolfpack did a folding wing conversion for it and l been trolling for one but they are hard to come by and they are currently out of production
oggy4624 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I got my hands on the Paragon set some time back for my ES3. I will have to drag that one out of the stash (folding tail too!)
Jabba Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I got my hands on the Paragon set some time back for my ES3. I will have to drag that one out of the stash (folding tail too!) I am sure that the Paragon set was to 1/48th as i asked Neil once at the Nationals if he was going to produce a set for 1/72nd, to which he said he might, but I have never seen anything. As others have said Wolfpack design to a wing fold to 1/72nd.
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 24, 2013 Author Posted August 24, 2013 Today I bought a White aerosol from a pound shop - which is actually a very very very very pale green:oops: Well today I went back to radiator paint, so the sea-sick Viking is back to its normal colour. Photos tomorrow if the weather allows.
heloman1 Posted August 25, 2013 Posted August 25, 2013 For a Pound that's a bargain, if I remeber it's a nice kit. I'll watch your progress. Colin
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 25, 2013 Author Posted August 25, 2013 And here we are - back to normal colour
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 (edited) Started putting some decals on.That canopy is actually transparent - but not in my photos. Edited August 28, 2013 by theplasticsurgeon
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 And now with tail markings and engines. Those panel-lines are with a fine marker pen.
Jabba Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 (edited) That does look very different. It is one of the Bi-centennial shemes that I do not have. Edited August 28, 2013 by Jabba
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 This is ThePlasticSurgeon calling the ball. Gear fitted and extended, aerial installed and decorated. Expected to trap tomorrow.
theplasticsurgeon Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 (edited) First an undercarriage shot:Then the completed flyer - having just caught a 3-wire.I don't know why my morning photos always look so dull However I am continuing, with the decorated fuel-tanks. This build brings my completed collection to 499 - so I'm thinking something a bit special for my Demi-Millennium. Edited August 29, 2013 by theplasticsurgeon
Jabba Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Certainly looks different to the normal coloured Vikings of that time period.
kev67 Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Very nice work, i noticed that the stars and bars underneath the wing has got a white line through it
