wellzy
Great Wall Hoddles have put a have a lot of detail into the cockpit so this is going to take some time , I saw in one of the modelling mags a Devastator article ,and I thought the build was quite good ,one thing did mystify me was the use of green in the cockpit area ,as all my references points too natural metal as with other Navy aircraft of that time so that's the way I will go . The Kit come`s with twin 30. guns but this was a late modification so I will use the single 30 calibre gun . Les

dazdot
following this les can I forth yellow wings the nmf on the interior is a mater of choice I believe because you wail be right in the middle of a transition on this. I remember doing my yellow wings dauntless was the same. just took an artistic view that there would be too much silver and I would also have to remove all of the armour plate and do other backdating. basically the choice is yours

wellzy
ok so my build will be of VS 71 ,USS WASP June 1941 still in pre war colours but now with a green interior ? Les That is a very nice interior they provide, Sir. The 'silver' interior is not bare metal but aluminum lacquer, so there is no need to go to extremes if you do a 'silver' interior. It is true that 'yellow wings' finishes survived into the dark green interior era. If your subject is a very early one, say in '37 or '38, aluminum lacquer would be the way to go; if it is a later one, green wpould be more likely, and almost certain for 1940 service.
