gunpowder17 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 This is the cure for modellers block. This is the first model i have totally finished in a long time. There was some firsts for me on this build. The use of MDC lead wire which was fantastic. It was used in the cockpit and alot on the engine. It was also the very first time i have used blu tac for masking the camo. I wish i had tried this sooner , as it works a treat. No more freehand airbrushing for me! Another first on this was the use of windsor and newton matt varnish and flow improver. Everything came together on this model , and without blowing my own trumpet i think its the best i have done so far. Weathering was kept to a minimum on this. I love the look of a clean Spitfire. 6
Lightning88 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Very tidy and clean, and that engine is a work of art
TCinLA Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Very nice. Do the magnets actually hold the panels right?
gunpowder17 Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 (edited) Very nice. Do the magnets actually hold the panels right? Thanks Guys. Yup the panels on mine actually lined up OK and the magnets worked really well. I still need to matt varnish the prop and add the Pitot. Just noticed! Edited July 31, 2013 by gunpowder17
(ex)Sgtrafman Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Now that is a lovely spit! You really did the kit justice...now to get mine looking as good!! Great stuff Yours aye Iain
gunpowder17 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Thanks Guys. I think a grass base and the figure from the kit would finish it off.
HOUSTON Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 I LOVE The engine.. It's a very lovely build.. Your spitfire is impressive.
al_the_drummer Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Absolutely lovely - inspiring build with a great kit...one day I might have a go at 1/32...
Parabat Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Looks superb, I'm looking forward to trying the blu tac thing in the future and your result gives me some added confidence. Lovely work, one to be proud of.
TheStig Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 That looks amazing, just a tip, I use white tack instead of blue tac as it doesn't stick as much and is easier to peel away
