HT's Fire Brand TF.Mk.II

Recommended Posts

As i was on a roll and like to build multiple ac at the same time, this got a couple of hours.

The plastic is different to any other but then again i havent made many Valom kits. its a little more rougher like a very very lts kit. Saying that the panel lines are fine and the exterior model finish ig smooth. Also included is a PE fret for the US doors, CP, rads, and torpedo rudders/stabilisers.

Right to start with is assembled the pit.

Then the wings.

Both go together fine except the graphis on the instructions are a little different to that to the kit parts so need to just double check what you have in your hand is what your meant to use.

Next up the intake scoop. Warning the little inserts to dont fint straight away therefore some sanding is required to make them fit. This is made up of back and front walls and the three radiator inserts.

Using the fret the grills were SG in place.

Then painted gun metal.

CLAMPS REQUIRED!!!! Sanding too.

As the point suggests, you need to sand the grills down and also the inside of the joins to help the top part over them and try to get it as flush as you can to the bottom. There will be a little filler required here to seal the joins.

As with the Scimitar building resumed on the Firrbrand.

Starting with the pit. Interior green, belts and night for the control column.

Cementing of the main wings and sandwiching of the tub between the fuselage halves, again no locating pins on these short run kits. The PUR radar part was cemented using SG. One thing to note is that if you cement the outer wing to the centre section there is no dihedral so you need to sand the top part of each wing so that there is an 5-10 degree angle upwards. I didnt get a pic of this but ill try to show it later on.

Wing meets fuselage. This was a bugger as it doesnt fit so some cutting and trimming is required at the front cowling as the gap between the back to front of the wing section sis too short so you need to lengthen it by cutting away at the front end.

Some additional filling required along the seams

And lastly airbrushed last night ready for the slate grey.
