What colour were British Locust Airborne Tanks?

Hello Folks,

I`ve just started the Bronco Locust tank and I`m building it in 6th Airborne Div Recce Troop markings but does anybody know what colour they were? Were they in US Olive Drab or did the British Army repaint them?

Any help would be much appreciated,

They could be either Tony.

While SCC15 was different to US olive drab, it was adopted in part to remove the requirement to repaint lend-lease vehicles. As a general rule, lend-lease vehicles would not be repainted unless they underwent refurbishment or modification. For example, Shermans converted to Fireflies or Crabs would be repainted but other Shermans in the same units could still be olive drab.

I don't think it's possible to determine whether vehicles are SCC15 or US olive drab from photographs so no-one will know whether you have chosen the wrong colour.

Thanks for the good advice, I just hope that some `expert' with a manual doesn`t appear once I`ve painted the thing to prove us wrong!

Maybe PM Mike Starmer?

I'd be inclined to go with US OD as these were lend lease vehicles, but I wouldn't be surprised to be wrong.
