Bordfunker Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 Yet another impulse buy on my part, but a kit I knew I just had to build. Again this one is straight out of the box, with just the addition of brake lines and tape belts. The build is painless, and I decided to go with one open cannon bay, seeing as Airfix had been so kind to provide one. Paints are a mix of Tamiya, Gunze & Airfix acrylics, all applied with my trusty Badger 100's. I used both pre and post shading as I was trying to achieve a work worn appearance. That gun bay.. ...the pit... ...and the invasion stripes were painted rather than use the decals. Thanks for letting me share. Karl 10
Roland Pulfrew Posted July 20, 2013 Posted July 20, 2013 That's a fab looking build! I'm now kicking myself even more for not picking one (or two) of these at Fairford today. Really nice finish on that kit.
batcode Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 looks fantatsic, the weathering looks great ,looks great on the little dio
HOUSTON Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 SPLENDIFEROUSLY BRILLIANT..AWESOME build with superb paint job and weathering....
Bordfunker Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 Thanks for the encouragement guys. To be fair this kit builds itself, and is a testament to how far Airfix have come. I've got the Vampire T11 sitting on the shelf to do once I finish my Revell Ju 88 C-6. Karl
dadgaddad Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Really nice work. How did you paint the bombs? It looks like you managed to achieve some variations in the colour without it being too noticeable. Well done.
426 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) Another splendid result in 1/72 scale. Fantastic. Edited July 21, 2013 by 426
Bordfunker Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 Thanks for the comments guys. The bombs were sprayed with grey primer first, then a black pre-shade applied. I then gave them several light coats of Gunze OD green, followed by a few passes with OD lightened with Sky. The bombs were then given a wash of watercolour black and several coats of matt varnish. Finally I dry brushed steel & aluminium metallic shades over those parts of the bomb which would have received most contact. It's actually faster to do than typing it! Karl 1
Lightning88 Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Looks superb...wish there was still one of these flying
Vulcanicity Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Great work! I especially like the restrained weathering and mud stains, and very neat seatbelts (wish my seatbelt attempts looked that good!)
