EXPrompt
Good afternoon colleagues. I want to show work, work old, machine guns bad Do18D K6+GK from 2/KuFlGr 306. North Sea, Island Zilt. there is a real photo of this board dated on October 22, 1939 this division was later is reformed and got a new number 3/KuFlGr 406. http://www.karopka.ru/showthread.php?t=7940 Model problems: 1 The model from itself represents a mix, something average between D and G modification. It should D and not to G. Main a model problem - a fuselage nose. Never D had it such stupid, not not at G. 2 Propellers - on model very much not true. They wide and a profile at them another. I had to do all propellers from scratch. 3 In a design of Do18 used a cloth. And in model imitation I sagged is on wheels. But this isn't enough… At least the wheel of the direction sagged cloths it is necessary to do most. On casting of it isn't present. Here main problems. Propellers OLD NEW

steveinns
I have a real soft spot for flying boats & Dornier in particular designed some very aesthetically pleasing looking designs. I have the Do 18 in my stash & have started to assemble it, BUT it is not one of Matchboxes, better efforts ! I found that the wings, do not fit at all well to the engine pylon. They are very badly mismatched to produce a significant step between the wing & what would be the pylon fillets. I subsequently sawed the wings in half again to reduce the thickness, but didn't make a very good job of it ! Consequently there is a LOT of filler waiting to be sculpted to shape to restore any resemblance of the original wing, albeit now thinner in section ! The tailplanes are not the best fit either. Since I do not possess unlimited patience, that now traumatised model is back in it's box, awaiting divine inspiration ! Someday, I might just get back to it. It's been a real treat to see what you have achieved with this model. Very impressive. Thanks for posting.

Spitfire31
Matchbox must be credited with releasing a goodly number of unique subjects – quite an adventurous line-up in its day. While some of them had their poblrms of fit and over-simplification, not to speak of the legendary 'trench lines', they could be made into excellent replicas by a skilled and tencious modeller. Your Do 18D (the German system of type apellations did not use a hyphen…) is an admirable example of this. Really good work and an inspiration! Kind regards, Joachim
