foxy
Well thanks again guys . Well was not satisfied with the deck and resprayed then when dry put a Vallego model wash of dark grey and left to dry. Added planking to the bow section. I think its better . Next it was the boats, as the bottom was just plain plastic I added plastic strips. Then painted and will matt varnish later. These boat will be on the water as I intend to have none on deck. Next its been the masts, here is the mainmast with more blocks and supports for the crew walkrope on the yards. Thanks to Jocko and Smudge for the wire for this. Lots of other things done. Still more blocks to add when I have purchased more from Scale Warship. Cheers foxy

Jockster
Although I haven't been saying much Frank, I have been following your build with a big smile on my face. And your ships boats are brilliant, very neat on the old paintbrush mate.
foxy
Thanks Jocko and Kev. Well its just nice to see people are enjoying the build, there's no need to worry as to posting jocko. I do this in the hope that it will help someone else to have a go and also I enjoy the challenge No worries mate . Being retired I get kind of prolific in posting. . But it will slow as I get more to work on. So make the most of it . Cheers foxy
Forlornhope
I'm another fan of your boats, they look awesome and that is some very nice workmanship on the masts. I picked up 5 old sailing ship kits from my dads neighbor for a slab of beer a few years ago. With a few of you gents having these posts I've pulled acouple out and have been looking over them, so keep posting and inspiring. foxy
Thanks Callum and Jorgen . Well moved on a bit with the ship. Here I have made a partition to go below main and middle decks, this goes where the planking finishes in the bow end. Also made up some hook/blocks for the rigging later. Steps will have ropes to hold onto when decending, visa verser. Some pictures of what it will look like with top deck fitted, all loose at the mo. Last picture of some of the Heart/Jeer blocks ready for the rigging later. Cheers foxy

studiojohn
Hi Foxy Where do you find the time. Coming apace now. More good news for you. The Becket blocks (single and double) are on their way. Alan has had a play with the first trial batch of the single Becket blocks and I have put together a montage of the printing sprue with the blocks, a close up of a single block and a couple of closeups of one of his mast assemblies which show the single block in place and also if you look closely a coupleof Jeer blocks. First though is a 3D image of a double block ( with a piece of sprue) from the which the printing files were derived. This is the montage of a single block Cheers for now John
foxy
Excellent news John. Thats the very thing I need to continue with the guns etc. Was going to make me own, but very time consumeing. When there out I will purchase them. Thats another problem solved. Cheers foxy
foxy
Well with all the grandchildren gone to the beach I am able to get a bit more done . I have removed the ropes from the guns, as scale warship are making some single and double beckets, out next week so they tell me, these will be used for the block and tackle on the guns and for the rigging. Then its small items drying and made elm tree pump that goes by mainmast and posts. Next I placed them on middle deck, you will be able to see through the top deck beams, so will add a bit more interest. At the bow end(top) I have added the removable bulkheads. Here you can see the elm tree pump,I think this maybe a little to high, so will reduce. Thats it for now. Cheers foxy

Nigel Heath
elm tree pump ? What on Earth is that for? Elaborate please.
foxy
Cheers Rob. Like your Warspite mate, lovely job. Nigel. The Elm tree pump(well thats what its called) was used to pump water onto the decks for scrubbing by the crew , also to pump water up from the bilges. Weather its made from elm or not I have no idea. But have been reading up on the ship and all the names of varius items onboard, there are some very funny names, this being one of them. Here is a 1/100 scale picture of it on the lower deck from Dafi's build, thats were I got the scale for mine, but his is much more detailed. Cheers foxy
seadog
The pump 'tubes' were made from hollowed elm trunks, apparently. If I recall correctly it's because elm is very rot resistent.
foxy
Thanks seadog, thats a bit of info I did not know. . I also have made a boob on the bitposts on middle deck, they should go right up to the main deck as supports. But thats easy rectified Cheers foxy
foxy
Ok sorted the bit posts and the elm pump. Also added the victory etchings from scale warship, this was a hair raising job but new that I had a spare set . Also finished the bits and belaying pins. A closer look at the Elm tree pump. Lowered the handle and added the arm that pumps, also the outlet pipe. Cheers foxy.

Forlornhope
Lovin that Stern piece and my jaw dropped seeing your flag lockers. I'm looking forward to the rope work on the cannon's. Sorry if I missed it but are the Becket blocks being done on a 3D printer or are they resin? Cheers Cal
Jockster
Nice one Frank, I knew after seeing your Warspite that you'd do something special with this ship and you have.
foxy
Thanks guy's. Cal, the becket blocks I am told are lazer made and be resin mate. Well a little more has been done on the lockers,'flag for the use of '. Just a roll of canvas for the cover needs to be made. Added brass rod to the netting on the bow end, these are made by scale warship. This will be sprayed grey/white with black supports. Lots of other things like gun hatchs/knights head/knees painted.
