Antoine
Kawanishi N1K1 Kyofu type 11 Otsu 103, Otsu kokutai/934 kokutai Ambon/Manokwari, january 1944 Kit: Tamiya Scale: 1/48 Decals: Box stencils only Paints: Tamiya acrylics and enamels. Aftermarket: Nada Other materials: tamiya tape, lot of it!!!! This aircraft was flown by Dai-i ((Lt) Kawajima Yasushi from 934 kokutai, a floatplane fighter unit operating in the Ambon/Maikoor/Manokwari area, situated around north-western new Guinea. the unit was at the frontine, facing mainly RAAF Beaufighter raids from northern Australia, and also USAAF bomber raids. The first kill of the new plane was obtained above Ambon against a B-24 in january 1944 Better than the zero in term of climbing speed, the new aircraft was not really loved by its pilots due to its inferiority in maniability and range. Nakajima went on to develop the successful N1K1-J and N1K2-J land-based fighters form this floatplane design.

Antoine
Thank you Mike. But, believe me, no expert here, really! Or at least expert in taking pics that hide the (numerous) mistakes.
