Intending to build this kit
Fujimi-Phantom-FG1.jpg
Bought on Ebay for 17 quid.

And here are the parts.

Can anyone spot the added bonus with this kit?

Bonus canopy sprue?

Looking forward to this!

Sean

Close - but not what I'm thinking. This is a lateral thinking bonus :hmmm: .

That canopy sprue is a leftover from an FGR2 kit that I built in 2008.

I'm at an archery tournament tomorrow - but will post the answer when I get back in the evening.

No other suggestions.
This kit was bought in Dec 2011. Around April this year I noticed this -

Short moulding of the Stdb fuselage. Fortunately a lot is hidden behind the intake splitter.

Probably too late to return it to Ebay seller - though I have checked the description.

Top kit, I built 25 of them when they first came out, one for each Squadron and unit. Only missed out 1435 Flight before I moved to 1/48th scale. Brings back many happy memories.

This is the point where I show you similar subjects that I've built previously.
Going with 72nd scale Phantoms - you've already seen my Fuji FGR2 model,

Next a Matchbox F-4K Phantom - that I built with my son

A gift from Phreak - thank-you Rich :thumbsup2:

My first ever Phantom built when I was about 15. Airfix F-4C.

A Fujimi Luftwaffe F-4F

Another Fujimi, this time a USMC RF-4B.

And another - this time USAF RF-4C.

And final Fujimi an F-4G Wild Weasel.

Hasegawa F-4E

Remember that first Airfix model - well I refurbed it whilst painting the RF-4C and F-4G - as Olds01.

My photobucket account should reset itself on Weds - so I'll continue posting blind for you.

First job is to match up the fuselage halves, and get some reinforcement inside.

To support some plasticard patching.

and filler

The repair is looking quite promising - though I might loose the IFR facility.

Yes, the "new" stealth fighter.

Good progress... (For when we can see it...) ;)

This is what we're like at the moment

Well I'm happy with that. Not planning on tempting fate - scribing in the RF probe.

Sprue re-enforcement to slightly widen the fuselage. Dry fit of wings indicated a slight gap.

And now the wings are on - without any gap.

For this project I've painted the canopy and surrounding area, prior to fitting.

There's some minor repair needed around that earlier crack - but you can see the shape of things to come.

Too bad on the short shot, but an excellent recovery! Conquering an issue like that makes modelling even more satisfying though, don't you think? The 1:72 Fujimi Phantoms are nice little kits, I'm looking forward to the rest of your build.

Cheers,

Bill

Seems I've blown my Photobucket quota again.

Anyway, I've airbrushed the EDSG over the top surfaces.

Now planning to put pilots in this model, so currently painting them.
