little-cars
Yes, I agree it is a poor film. However, I do know that swapping out of the pink Rolls Royce was because RR refused to give permission to use it. At least that bit was not down to the film makers per se. But they are making a new series that is reputed to be closer to the original. http://entertainment.time.com/2013/02/05/commence-countdown-to-thunderbirds-tv-remake-launch/ Marty... And I'm sure Ford paid a fair bit to get their name in the film ! Jamie announced on the Gerry Anderson website that the new series called Gemini Force One over the weekend. But you have to wait a month or so for more details: http://www.gerryanderson.co.uk/gerry-anderson-gemini-force-one/ But there are some teasers on the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GerryAndersonOfficial?hc_location=stream Paul Paul
marty_hopkirk
I'm sure Ford did pay, but equally I'm sure that RR declined. Maybe they knew what the film was going to turn out like. Marty...
jetboy
Hi,you can almays find a good movie,if you watch bad ones enough?or so i thought,i watched an excellent film last, and it had quite a few subjects to model,if you so wished..apc,,s choppers, and the good old post apocolyptic vehicles..camo,ed police vehicles...etc etc. But it still was a good movie, and its all i thought scotland was ,north of the Border....just joking?anyway the name of this pearl amongst grit....Doomsday,with loads of extras on the dvd, about the weapons, and vehicles used, from the director of Dog soldiers,i guess? its been a book ,i dont know, but the movie was intresting, post viral apocolypse, britain. And the ending heading towards hadrians wall,in the mad max type vehicles,is a sight to behold,so really shouldnt be in this thread i suppose?,cos i enjoyed it,,, cheers Don
Albeback52
So all of these will make Zardoz seem bearable? Nothing could make Zardoz bearable!! However, If you want to try another pair of total clunkers, I can thoroughly recommend Saturn 3 and, The Shape of Things To Come (not the 1936 classic! I refer the indescribably awful 1979 film of the same title!!) - a total waste of the late Jack Palance). Or, if you really want ultra naff TV Sci Fi, it's hard to beat Phoenix 5 - a (VERY) low budget Australian series from the 70s! Allan
jetboy
HI, WELL ive watched some dross these last two weeks, whilst im modelling away in my lofty garrett?and theres only a couple that stand out,in the modelling dept,i think theres a serious lack of new models about, but hey ho the new star wars is starting filming,so always a good few models in there, they know how to milk a franchise,? But nothing has stood out for myself, theres nothing i have watched thats whispered to me ....Build me,you know you want to?...so i went back to the beginning for me,and have raked out my old vh,s....for some classic model inspiration, though i was let down last night,by two episodes of the classic ufo, series, uasually good for models and kit,but that thing that paul foster was test pilot of,looked a bit of a dog,the house brick with wings, sorry thats the shuttle,ok its the xv104 by the Ventura Aircraft Corporation they must of been scraping the barrel with that one... cheers Don

Aah! "DARK STAR" a cult sci-fi classic! a great movie that influenced all sci-fi movies that followed! not bad considering it was filmed entirely in a guy`s garage!. Trevor Dark Star doesn't deserve to be in this thread as it's actually a very good and funny film. Yes, its available on DVD, I however, would recomend spending a couple of extra quid on the BD version as this contains the fully restored and a ton of extras. It is a movie that does not get a lot of TV airings, its only had a handful on UK terrestrial TV. Yes. I remember Dark Star. I loved it!! Definitely offbeat but very funny - especially when Pinback shoots the alien. You have to see it to appreciate it, it's just so silly!! I think the SY FY channel must be the home for really bad movies of this type. Did anybody see Sharknado?? The movie that EVERYBODY was talking about (according to the trailer?). Reached factor 15 on the Cringe-ometer scale of 1-10!! While not SCi Fi, I sat through an abomination called Dungeons and Dragons: The Book of Vile Darkness on Thursday!! It was so utterly awful I just had to watch it all the way through. I think there's a sort of grim fascination with these cinematic clunkers! Hepster
Many years ago, whilst attending a Science Fiction convention in Birmingham, I saw a movie called 'Santa Claus Conquers the Martians', which was so bad it was good, because it had an audience of drunken SF nerds (like me) who jeered at it all the way through. Good times.

Hepster
Never seen it, but I have heard of it. Did you know that the little Martian girl is played by Pia Zadora?Yes I do. I'm more surprised that they armed the Martians with a commercially available toy raygun (doh - what other sort are there) and featured the slinky toy. Product placement at it's best! It makes Plan 9 look like an epic...
