Rodders154
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PixMax-Airbrush-Air-Brush-Spray-Mini-Compressor-Kit-Double-Action-Feed-New-/310696971381 Will this be ok to spray acrylics and enamels. As you guess I dont have a lot of experience in spraying I have had a go at the rattle cans but thought I would invest in a compressor and whilst looking I found this. Is it worth it? little-cars
Looks like one of the standard cheap Chinese sets. Lots of words, but no actual specifications given in the ad, so who knows what it is capable of. Paul
Driver66
If it looks too good to be true....... I own an iwata compressor and airbrush, cost lots but worth it.
Séan Pádraig
From my own experience you get what you pay for... I migrated to airbrushing with a badger compressor similar looking to that one... it was OK but noisy, vibrated quite a bit and had no control... still better that endless cans of air... and a single action AB. after two years of noisy vibrating airbrushing I couldn't wait to upgrade... I got a cracking compressor from Little cars and the Ultra dual action H&S airbrush.... and my airbrushing was transformed... my 12 year old even uses the Ultra. little-cars
Go to a model shop or show, art shops historically have higher prices, I assume it's because a lot of sales are paid for by grants, loans or colleges. You need to decide what sort of areas (large areas, small areas, fine details such as German camouflage) and subjects you will be painting. Then you need to set a budget. £60-100 will get you cheap Chinese kit, £200 is the start of the better quality set ups such as the kit that Sean bought off me. Most decent airbrushes will spray enamels and acrylics, you have to learn how the different paints work in whatever brush you have and make sure you clean it correctly. This takes time and a few questions of a forum like this one. The IPMS Avon show is next month and not to far from you, I'll be there with demo airbrushes for people to try and I'm sure there will be at least one other company at the show. easyAl
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B004GSU6R4/ref=aw_ls__1?colid=XXZM514AC4MO&coliid=I1CV3LFUO9SICF This is what I got. A colleague who does professional work uses that one and neither he nor I have had no problems at all. Maybe some of the seasoned pros might comment, but I've seen nothing to cause concern provided everything is thinned properly
