1/72 Rareplane vacform Gates Learjet C-21-A

Recommended Posts

This is the 1/72 Rareplane vacform OOP kit of the Gates Learjet C21-A

The model is painted using Tamiya gloss white, black and silver and finished with Johnsons Klear.

Although these aircraft were maintained to a high standard and very clean I used some artistic license and added minimal panel wash to the top and bottom surface of the wings and on the engine just to break up the white of the aircraft.

Draw decals were used, although I found these were to big such as the stars and bars and the USAF insignia so instead raided my spares and found something of suitable size.

All of the interior is scratch built including the undercarriage and entrance steps

Crystal clear was used for the windows and navigation lights

This particular aircraft is based at Scott Air Force Base USA

Anyway I hope you like it

Cheers Radleigh, I think I have a one other bizjet but can't think of its name

Great Job Kev, I you had not mentioned it was a vacform I could have sworn it was an injected kit with that result.

the only other 1/72 scale I know of is the resin kit

An absolute beauty Kev! I built a couple of Rareplane kits as a teen - Heinkel 100 and FJ-1 Fury and they were great kits.

I have one word to say;

Stunning.

Steve.

Cheers Steve, a bit late in replying, as I have just come back from my Holiday

That's really nice! :goodjob:

Thanks

Absolutely gorgeous Kev, all the extra detail you've put in has really made the difference, let alone it starting life as a vac form !

Cheers, Neil

Cheers Neil, I am going to have a rest from Vacs and do a normal kit next, I have some other Vacs in 1/72 I will do later such as the Twin Pioneer or the Andover

Lovely job Kev, I know how difficult vacforms can be.

BB

They are difficult but also fun

An absolute beauty Kev! I built a couple of Rareplane kits as a teen - Heinkel 100 and FJ-1 Fury and they were great kits.

Rareplane kits are one of the best Vacform kits shame they are out of production as I think Hannants bought the moulds

wonderful model. I followed the WIP and have to admit that the result turned out very very nice.

Thanks

Beautiful model Kev, lovely finish!

Did you ever finish your Hastings?

keef

Cheers Keef, the Hastings is on the back burner, but would like to restart it soon

Gee, with the Khee Kha Cessna 185 on this forum, this shows great modelling using 'simple' vacform kits. Looks great!

Cheers

Michael

Yes that Cessna is a brilliant Vacform model
