Mike
After thrashing my recent Dragon A1/U4 into (near) submission, I'm looking for options to build the glass-nosed A-2a/U2 in 1:48, but apart from the long OOP Dragon kit, I can't seem to come up with anything. Anyone know different? TIA Mike.
Vesa Jussila
If I remember correctly Trimaster was making Me-262A-2, but that boxing might be even more difficult to find. I think plastic is same in Dragon and TriMaster boxes.
Mike
I'm not at all sure, but I thought (rightly or wrongly) that Trimaster's moulds were taken over by Dragon?
caughtinthemiddle
Indeed, DML 5529 kit is a re-release of Trimaster MA-11 kit. Both long OOP. Define a search on Evilbay and wait. One DML boxing was sold just last Saturday for 33$.
Mike
Thanks Maciej - for once my memory didn't let me down
Heraldcoupe
Dragon also released the glass nosed variant as part of their Me-262 Mistel set. That too is out of production, but it may widen your search a bit. Cheers, Bill.
caughtinthemiddle
You're welcome. BTW, it's quite funny that no one offers a conversion set either in 1/48 or 1/72. There's only a set for 1/32 Trumpeter kit available: http://www.modeldesignconstruction.co.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/ModelDesignConstruction/_RBC32001/54288/ME262A-2a%2FU2%20Glazed%20Nose%20Bomber
Mike
It is odd, isn't it? WWII German stuff is a solid seller, and it seems that no matter how obscure the mark or variant, people like it
Heraldcoupe
Dragon also released the glass nosed variant as part of their Me-262 Mistel set. Oops - looks like I was wrong about that, the only ones I can find reference o have the conventional cannon-armed nose. I must have been thinking about the old MPM 1/72 kit, sorry, Cheers, Bill. Don McIntyre
I built one of DML's versions of the kit and was very pleased with it (nearly unbendable PE and all). (Long story on the unpainted upper nose piece and I didn't notice that the MLG wheel had slipped out of place until after the photo session): Cockpit was VERY nice! The nose compartment did have some nice detailing and the (I assume) Lofte bomb sight.: More pics here if anyone's interested: http://s20.photobucket.com/user/DDonSS3/library/Built%20Models/DML%20Me%20262?sort=3&start=all&page=1&_suid=137280233574405688228039070964 Edited July 2, 2013 by Don McIntyre
