Dan dare inspired conversion

Recommended Posts

Whilst trying to get Gunstar finished thought I would have some fun with the Pegasus Mercury 9 kit.....

The basic design is pure 1950's and just screamed out to be converted into a Dan Dare style of ship, then I got carried away!!

I don't usually frequent this forum, not really my thing but talk of Dan Dare got my interest & wow, that is great, could be right out of the pages of EAGLE comic, we used to get them when I was a kid, still have a lot of the annuals from the 60s.

Nope, I tried on another machine too.

Must be that server has naughty bits that

the Saudi censorship won't let through.

I'll go read my Eagle book instead.

Good luck with the build though.

Love it.

I'm great DD fan, and have listened to the audio adventure countless times.

I also have ALL of the Eagle comics and annuals as CBR 'e-comics'.

I read them on a 10" tablet over and over again along with TV21 - got all those too.

Someone has even made a feature length 'movie' of Voyage to Venus using stills from the book and some limited animation.

The audio is from the audiobook.

It's actually quite good:

I've searched for a kit of 'Anastasia' (DD's own ship) but never had any luck.

Keep up the great work.

Very nice Aeryn, but the Gunstars have blown me away, loved those since the first time I watched the film. I think that was the first ever CGI film too if I remember correctly!

I've just spotted this after a google search, hells bells, whatever will Haynes come out with next? Some of the page shots in this review show how convincing your dio is.:thumbs up:

I think I have discovered another need.;)

Yup I've got that Hayes manual and it is superb - almost makes we want to take up total scratch building to get an Anastasia :)

Vac forming would be my downfall sadly and that would at least need vacformed canopies!

If you check out my site "Stephanie's Interstellar Garage" at chianna47.webs.com you will see that i have been playing around with some cg designs for good old Annie and the Zylbat as well..

Now that I have the Haynes book, I will have to tweak Anastasia a bit....hope to make a paperkit of this later, already printed out my Zylbat kit to try out.

The plan is to build them in paper then again in plastic....an idea i call papermorphing, using the paper as templates for plastic, it worked well for both Gunstars and my Serenity and V ship.

By the Pete in Riyadh, if you want i could email some pics of the builds if you send me your email...

my email is
