From the article

Matheson's 1954 horror novel I Am Legend was adapted three times as a film, most recently in 2007 as a big-budget thriller starring Will Smith.

It is considered a landmark work in the genre, ushering in zombies and apocalyptic themes to post-World War Two America.

Shame the original novel was based around the idea of Vampires not Zombies?

Or, to be completely, pedantically accurate, he wrote The Shrinking Man and complained about the studio changing the title. "The guy's shrinking! Surely that's incredible in itself?"

Surely, using the word pedantic isn't necessarily pedantic if you aren't being pedantic with intent.

Pedantic only becomes pedantic if the pedantic phrase or comment is intentionally pedantic.

THEN pedantic isn't pedantic, but the use of the word pedantic, is....

Just being pedantic.................

Roy.

Damn, there goes my pedantry blocker failing again.

I confess to not being aware of Matheson by name but sure aware of his work, I always thought that "I am Legend" was a better book than movie, at least the Will Smith one which is the only one I've seen or want to. :(

I really loved The Omega Man when I was a kid; I suppose I still do, for that matter. Brother Mathias and his "Family" really gave me the creeps. I suppose it was those eyes.
