jetboy
HI,just starting, this little known, but important rocket, also flight no5 of the eight tested was to hold the record for altitude for a number of years,244 miles i believe?.this rocket, was also known by General electric RTV-G-4/RV-A-4 BUMPER.it was basically, inserting a sounding rocket,on top of a normal v2,it has also been stated, though not corroborated that WAC,was short for without attitude control?anyway this kit uses a revell V2,or a dragon one,im using a revell one.heres the start.... the nosecone with very fragile fins protuding, and the corporal missile.. the conversion kit, with decals for the record breaking flight thought just gluing straight on is asking for future trouble,so opted to drill both pieces out and find some scap dowell a bit of paint before filling the everso small gap marking off the required amount to cut off the rocket thats it for the moment....cheers Don
jetboy
how many different types of v2 can there be?lol, only joshing. cheers Don
jetboy
hi,anyway onwards....i cut the required amount off as per the instructions, but alas the nose is still too big,so i cut some more off, getting technical now, still didnt fit,so not wanting the shortest v2 in the world, stuck the nose cone on,first removing the very delicate fins, which i,ll put back on later, then sanded it down to fit the body.... and you cansee its a bit bigger, maybe intentional,so it can be sanded to fit, maybe the dragon version is a different size,i know the pics of it look stumpier..anyway it fits now. a bit of caulk, and a bit of sanding looking like it should? with the w.a.c.missile attached cheers Don
Stu_davros
Hi Don, I've only just noticed your build of the Bumper, I started building the same conversion some time ago and i think the problems you are having are because the V2 kit you are using is the wrong scale. I used the Revell kit but the Dragon kit should be the same plastic. Here is how mine looks at the moment: I found that following the Kora instructions gave a perfect fit. Hope this helps. jetboy
HI,STU, yes i realised about two months ago,but only when putting the decals on,which is why i didnt post anything, else on the thread,i could of posted the finished model, saying it was wrong scale i suppose, but i thought no one was reading the thread anyway?so it didnt matter?i was wrong on both counts. i had the good sense to make three or four copies before i built it,so when i aquire a 1/35 v2,i can remake it,or then again might not?a future project,i have rather a lot on my bench at the moment.....so why dont you finish the post off,as yours looks the dogs dooda,s,just a thought,....heres how mine looked with the wrong v2...and thanks for getting on and telling me that, but could of done with that 3 months ago,or i could of followed the instructions, but that would of been too easy?lol..... heres my wrong scale one.... cheers Don
