Thanks to modelldoc for posting this link in the rumourmonger section.

Regards,

Andrew

Edit: it says it's a reissue of the old Aer Lingus boxing, which had GE engines, but presumably it will have the PW engine sprue too - as far as I can tell Thai have only had PW and RR engines on their 330s?

that really sounds great! I hope it will get both engine types as I like the A330 more with the GE's. ... ;-)

any other old models to be re-issued sometime?

thanks for sharing

Not sure about all the lumps and bumps, but it's basically an A330-200 with RR Trents isn't it? So shorten the fuselage add Bra.Z engines and tail fin....

I thought someone on here had mentioned once that they were planning to do one, don't know if anything came of it.

Cue the calls for -340 conversion kits in 3...2...

Or insane prices for the A340 kit on a certain auction website... Actually the idea of a conversion isn't too far fetched, the pylons in the A340 don't look right to me. A resin set of A340 engines would be a definite improvement on the kit offerings.

Any idea how easy or hard it would be to convert to a RAF A-330 Voyager ??

Thanks.

Andy

The MRTT version is based on the A330-200 so the fuselage has to be shortened and the fin changed to the latest post mod 48979 standard (http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/BZ4062 ). The RAF version uses Trent engines so you'll need to source the Bra.Z engine set as well ( http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/BZ4002 ). Pics here: http://www.brazmodels.com/Airbus/A330-200/A330-200kitphoto.htm .Then there's all the ECM gear and the Hose Drum Units to add; these are located where the outboard engines are situated on the A340.

I hope the fuselage mould isn't wearing out. The last two A340 kits I bought both had some serious flash and the fin was warped.

damn! maybe I should have waited until Revell re-released this before I undertook the 340 conversion :banghead: oh well...

Maybe Revell will release a new or at least refurbished tooling of the A330 and add the relevant MRT components?

That would be nice, but I doubt it will happen. Money for old rope and all that...

I don't think they are, it was the original plan but IIRC they are further outboard.

I don't know the answer, but looking at pictures online, both (A340 outboard engines and HDUs) seem to be between the outboard end of the flap and the inboard end of the aileron...which sort of makes sense?

"The A330-200 wing shares the same design structure, including the strengthened mounting points, as that of the four-engine A340 aircraft. The wing positions for mounting the air-to-air refuelling pods therefore require minimal modification."

Hi George,

Aer Lingus A330-300 have GE CF6 engines

http://www.planespotters.net/Production_List/search.php?manufacturer=Airbus&subtype=A330-300&fleet=1935&fleetStatus=all

Thai have PW and RR:

http://www.planespotters.net/Production_List/search.php?manufacturer=Airbus&subtype=A330-300&fleet=4414&fleetStatus=1

So I think the reissue will most likely come with PW engines (possibly PW and GE like the LTU issue) :)
