jetboy
Hi, Martins Models have surpassed himself with this piece of resin heaven?...its going to be huuuuuuuge?im drooling for a 1/72 version to stand over Dragons Saturn V,that would be a site to see?. Note to self....order shed loads of paint. this builds the six engined version, the cargo, heavylift version,first....so heres the start of the build,i will post a history of the vehicle with a preview of the kit,in the discussion section. The core section...and thrust structure... The thrust structure, minus engines, will put them on later, first stage/section of the huge H2 tank, section no2 third piece with tank top,and interstage, another shot of the thrust section next section, interstage section, some idea of the huuuuuuge size, this is without the payload section.... pic of the thrust structure, spacing for the six engines... starting to glue, and fill the slight join,in the tanks... my favourite filler... first done sanding the edges and frequent testing to achieve a nice fit. so H2 tank completed, sand and clean with sugar soap, ready for some paint?...onwards and in this case very much upwards...nice model martin btw. cheers Don

jetboy
HI, well its been a while since i went near this one, thought it about time,i finished it?, so how far have i got, just sorting out the longest boosters, putting a bit of detail?onto the tank tops, well this is how its going to look?maybe... putting a bit of detail on the strapon,s ive cut a few bits of evergreen to put a bit of something to look at?as every photo ive seen they are all different,so im just making a composite of all the detail i can make out? thats the payload shroud by the way,its to carry the lander? put a few stripes here and there. coming together a bit now, can you see the detail on this pic,im trying to build that ring, around the engine bell the one that looks like a lifebouy ring?so... I tried evergreen, but couldnt, get the radi with what i had,so scouted around for something, found a box of neoprane o rings...it will do once painted? and they take paint as well, happy days? just have to sort some striping out now? putting some stripes on the main tank, dont know why? well thats it for now, more tommorrow, thanks for looking, btw,im doing the cargo rocket in one piece and going to mdo the payload, and edv,as a seperate, model try and detail it a bit?.....cheers Don
jetboy
HI,a few more updated pics, just doing some work on the upper stages, building a few retro,s etc,as per some of the photo,s,not all, just some?plus retros etc enable the stages to sit a bit safer,? cutting strip to make retros... pics a bit poor sorry, sorting main engines out... putting some stripes on the engine shroud for the edv... and some retro,s not looking too bad? thats it for now, cheers Don
jetboy
HI, afew more updated pics for this beast, then i can get onto the latest creation,....first note...the previously mentioned rubber ring idea ,didnt work,?going to resort to boiling water and evergreen tube....,anyway heres some more pics...... so disregard above, live and learn.... engines, getting a bit of colour.... putting some details on put some different stripes on.... starting to look the biz? whoops sorry wrong pic just cutting some strip to secure the upper stages... bit more detail on.... decided to make a rough representation,of the payload holder in the shroud, out of evergreen. just making sure its going to sit right? tried a bit of gold foil,on it, just making sure shroud fits over... getting ready to play with the strapon,s getting them lined up starting to look like the beast it is? just a few more to finish, nearly done? sorry its picture heavy, cheers Don
Caerbannog
Very interesting to see how Martins Models assemble. And your output of models is simply amazing. Rene
jetboy
HI,Rene,...its nice to know someone is looking?...though rene ,you know what they, say, volume, speed and quantity, does not always equate to quality?....my master plan,is knowing that i will never get built,my stash,at a normal speed, get them all made ,get them knocked out, quick, whilst enjoying the build,of course, then when there all done, and by that time someone else may have completed some the same only, more better?.... I CAN THEN GO BACK TO THE ORIGINAL MODELS I KNOCKED OUT,at speed, and then do what gordon d has done lately, and redo them ,a bit more leisurly, take a bit more care, and hopefully skill, and just redo them all if needed...Sounds like a plan to me....because to me a kit in a box,in a stash, though might be pretty to covet, and fondle,...its just that,,sprues in a box,not a dust gathering model, which i can enjoy, whilst i plot its eventual fate...sounds ok to me,also the kids see them made, and its not just a daddies picture box collection?????????,so i,ll continue to knock them out, until the stash is gone,i,ll have twice as much room,in the workshop,to start again? have a nice day, cheers Don
Caerbannog
Sounds like a plan - especially as my son just started to get hold on some of my few finished models... so redoing stuff will be inevitable I fear. Better to have knocked them together then in the first place ;-) Cheers, Rene
