Revell 1/72 B-17F Memphis Belle

Recommended Posts

Been working on this one a few weeks now but just remembered to get it posted up! The model seems to go together pretty well. I think I have put the wrong nose due to the Revell instructions. But the other nose is available so I may still change this over.

All masked up ready for painting. The kit is designed pretty well so you can construct the wings seperatley and then but it all together at the end. This will make it easier for painting

Lovely job on the interior, it almost seems a shame to cover it up.

Can I ask is the kit in 2 colours of plastic ? Also what's your technique for painting the canopy framing turrets etc, something I need to get better at.

Cheers Pat

Bit of an update - I have got the wings assembled and the base colours painted on. Just going to assemble it all together before I do the camoflage pattern then i will think about weathering it. overall very pleased with the paint finish so far.

The secret to getting good canopies is:

1- if you don't already, dip them in future... this really makes a difference in their appearance.

2- different sizes of masking tape (I use Tamiya) and a brand new, S-H-A-R-P blade in your knife (regardless of whether you air or brush paint, it's always a good idea to mask off what you don't want to paint)

3-paint the interior color on the framing first, before doing the exterior camouflage.

And that's about it. If you typically have your canopies closed up, make sure that you blow as much dust out of the interior as you can and make sure the whole plane is sealed up tighter than the Warp Core on the Enterprise.
