Redboost
Hi folks, after years of resting partially built I finally finished this bird. It's older 1/72 CMR kit done in marking of 802.NAS, HMS Glorious. Being one of their early effort the built was challenging at places and some things were beyond my patience to be corrected (e.g. sit of the upper wing). The paints are Alclad II Semi-Matte Aluminium for Al Dope and the same paint mixed with Gunze H324 Light Grey to create the Anodic Grey. stevehnz
Very very Nice Libor, it sure doesn't reveal any troubles it gave you. As for a Nimrod in plastic, I'd be happy to settle for a Nimrod in 1/72 from Airfix, newly tooled to their latest standard. Well heck, I can dream can't I? Steve. crobinsonh
I love the Nimrod and you have finished her beautifully. If only Silverwings would do one - they even have one as an image on their main webpage!
Spitfire31
Beautiful build, so delicate! And the rigging looks very convincing as well. Kind regards, Joachim

Graham T
Lovely job. I'd love a 1/48 or 1/32 kit of this machine. I've always found it baffling that Silver Wings use a Nimrod for their banner - but do not have one (or aparently intend to produce one) in their current range! Ah well, on with the Flycatcher! bentwaters81tfw
Very nice job. Can't beat Sidney Camm's biplanes. For some reason when I saw 'Nimrod' I expected some hulking pregnant Comet.

Dave A
Lovely bird. Fascinating how in the last pic you can see the 'family resemblance' to the Hurricane. Makes you wonder if designers just have a 'favourite curve' they always go back to...
Viking
My goodness Libor, that is eye wateringly gorgeous. Cheers John

IrritableRabbit
I spotted this earlier today, whilst taking a quick peak at what's going on around here. And.. It's really nice looking indeed, so I had to come back, sign in and leave a comment. As mentioned, any challenges you had really don't seem to have effected the build because it looks absolutely spot on, super gorgeous and smashing. Redboost
Thank you gentleman for kind comments, good to see there are so many lovers of this classic design. Hope we will see a good plastic kit across the scales, preferably first in 1/72 scale:-) Cheers Libor
Shalako
Ah, the rigging mate!!! The whole model looks fantastic but the rigging is TOP!!! My personal scale modelling weakness .
Lightningboy2000
Superb build, Glorious in fact! I do like the fine rigging. What do you use for the rigging then? With what's available injection wise, how could I go about kit bashing one? I have seen the AZ and AModel Hawker biplanes which look nice. Thanks for sharing! tonyot
Another beauty there Libor, it looks like it is ready to take off any minute and land on HMS Glorious!! I must admit that I`ve never seen the white bar marking across the upper wing before, was this before 802 NAS adopted the yellow diamonds within the yellow stripes? Cheers Tony O
Redboost
Hi Tony, I suspect it may have been later marking variation, I just followed the profile in Alex Crawford MMP book, but I haven't seen that on a photo either. Martin, I use all the time heat stretched plastic threads pulled through the upper wing and black fishing tie wire for thinner antennae wires. The turnbuckles are cut from heat stretched cotton tip sticks. Cheers Libor
