if you took the photo on a white background, you couldn't tell it was a model. Great job.

Lovely model, only thing needed on the Tamiya kits are the front fork sets, as they really do improve on the kit plastic parts, excellent finish on this one, did you use Zero paints gloss, as its come out fine. I too would like to see the build pics.

I was SERIOUSLY tempted by the upgrade set, but it was nearly as much as I paid for the kit! The paints are entirely Tamiya, the gloss coat is the new Humbrol Clear. Here are the build pics, seeing as I've had a few requests.

Thanks for shareing the build pics, i think i might have to have another go at this one as i built one many years ago but my build skills were not hat great then, must say im impressed by the Humbrol clear is this a rattle can!. Can i make a small suggestion to improve what is already a great build, the exhaust looks a little too clean, so have you thought about a little heat staining, just a suggestion, so hope you dont mind. Looking foreward to your next build.

Outstanding work! :goodjob:

If it wasn't for the background, I would have thought it was the real deal.

Thanks for the comments everyone, it's making a distinctly average modeller feel quite chuffed! David V, the Humbrol Clear come in a 125ml bottle and it's just brushed on. I'm VERY impressed with it! The heat staining would be nice to try, maybe misting on a touch of clear blue in the appropriate places?

Thanks for the info on the clear i will definitly give it a go, as for the heat staining, if you are using tamiya then the clear blue and clear yellow would be the way to go, just lately i have started to use the Alcad clear blue and red plus the pale burnt metal, to get a better effect although these have to be use through the airbrush. for the tamiya method have a look at my YZR M1 in this section under the heading a few of my bikes, hope this helps.

Hi Ray, just a quick question did you have any trouble matching the Spains No 1 decals, im refering to the left hand side, the one with three pieces of decal, i made a complete horlics of this one and have now got a new set of decals, all the others went on fine except that part, i cant understand why Tamiya did not make this decal the same as the other side in two pieces, as to try and match up the decal to the curve in such a small space seems to be a bit complex.

I know what you mean about the Spain's No.1 decal! If you look carefully, I left the little decal that goes over the bump off on one side, as it flatly refused to settle nicely on the other! I did inspect the decal more closely afterwards, and if you look there's a small triangle taken out the decal. I would think that if you carefully cut this out, it will help it settle over the bump!
