DaveJL
Hello all, Here is my second entry for this GB. Academy 1/48 Hughes 500D converted to an AH-6J Little Bird of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, the 'Night Stalkers' Kit: Aftermarket: Will be using the CMK resin conversion set which includes etch parts and necessary decals. Everything one needs! Dave Edited June 4, 2013 by DaveJL
Dr Evil
Not sure if you've seen the below, but WernerWings have done a cracking sheet for the NightStalkers.. http://www.wernerswings.com/NightStalkers.html The titling and serials in the CMR kit (well, in mine at least) look very light rather than the correct olive drab shade. Might be worth checking some spares on a black background beforehand as they might darken - or possibly overspray a little to dull them down a bit? SaintsPhil
Nice choice Dave, the little bird is a cool little chopper.

heloman1
I love the Little Bird, so many variants crammed into such a small airframe. I'll be taking a close interest in this build. Colin
DaveJL
Thanks chaps. Might even try and build this one first, along side one of my F/A-18s for that GB. Dave
D1fuN0
Morning chaps. This was the other of the two choices I had for the GB. It was the Hasagawa 500D in Isreali pyjama's and TOW missiles, but I preferred the Revell Medicopter.
snapper_city
Hi Dave. How are all the GB's coming on?? Any news on the rotor craft yet???
DaveJL
Nothing on this yet Mark, still have a F-14 and F/A-18 to clear first. Depending on how they go, plan to start this and my MH-53 in the next few weeks. Dave
DaveJL
Brief start made... All of the interior resin assembled. Just needs a spray of primer, black paint and then some etched details: The CMK resin is some of the best I've worked with. Not too hard, not too brittle. A few rough areas from pieces removed from the casting blocks, but these won't be seen when the fuselage is closed up. Amazingly, this is most of the assembly done! Just need to fit it, close the interior, add the lumps, bumps, weapons and build the rotor Next up is to paint the cockpit and cut out the fuselage doors. More to come. DaveJL
Interior is now finished: I've started prepping the fuselage halves ready for installation. More to come. Dave
DaveJL
More done today. Doors cut out and interior sprayed black: Interior installed, fuselage closed and skids attached: Resin lumps, bumps and antennae fitted: Just need to add the glazing now and that's her ready for a prime and paint. More to come. Dave
snapper_city
She is going together better then my Dragon offering... A real pain....

DaveJL
Glazing on, tail section added and FLIR attached: Mini guns and rocket pods built up: Just need to mask off the glazing and door openings then it's ready for paint. More to come. Dave Edited August 15, 2013 by DaveJL

DaveJL
Paint on today. Went for Tamiya 'Nato Black' as i think this looks spot on when comparing the real things: Just need to add a few details then it's time for decals. Pretty much everything on the exterior is black! More to come. Dave
AndyC
That looks really good Dave - nice resin addition and it makes the 'pit and cabin look excellent
DaveJL
Thanks mate. I've tried to replicate the worn, patchy appearance on the paintwork. Can't really see it in the pictures. And yes, the CMK set is a delight! Dave
