Bristol Bombay / Bristol Superfreighter wings question

I understand the Bristol Bombay and Bristol Freighter shared the same wing? Would the same wing be used on the Superfreighter?

Wondering if I could use the wings from the airfix Bristol Superfreighter on a vac form bombay (with a bit of altering as needed?)

The Bristol 170 Freighter and 130 Bombay display only similar layout of fixed-gear twin-engined high-wing monoplane.

Just have a look at bare figures: wing span 96 ft for Bombay and 108 ft for the Freighter, wing area 1340 sq.ft for the pre-war a/c and 1490 sq.ft for its post-war replacement. Moreover - although both wings feature identical section and taper ratio - the older one is a seven-spar design with straight leading edge and forward sweeping trailing edge. The Freighter wing is a simplified two-spar design with swept leading edge and straight trailing edge.

Thus no chance for the idea you propose :(

Hi, think Valom are releasing a 1/72 injection

Bristol Bombay later this year. I seem to

remember that there was originally some

commonality between Bombay and Freighter

wing design but think a conversion would be

extremely difficult!!

Cheers, Paul
