Bearcat Bits - aftermarket stuff, what is there?

I was mooching around the stash earlier today and discovered an Esci Harrier box which actually had a Monogram 1/72nd Curtis M0del 75 Hawk (e.g. a P-36) and a a Grumman Bearcat in the box (and not the Harrier as expected).

Having completely forgotten about the kits I remembered I'd bought them cheap without boxes or decals but all of the parts there, they went into the Harrier box because I'd just made the kit - so we're talking the best part of 25 years ago now.

I've got the Model-Art decals for French F8F's in Indochina so I quite fancy giving it a punt at some time, a quick search on the big-H's website shows there's the Airwaves etched set, a couple of Falcon canopy sets and some decal sheets as well as some non-specific but applicable bits like late model P&W R-2800's.

Doe's anybody know of anything else like a replacement cockpit, wheels etc for this kit, I know Model-Art did a recce tank but is there anything else?

Thanks

Hi Wez, the monogram is a old kit, but very correct like a shape, also I build this model many years ago, for this kit there is a good aftermarket detali set from COBRA COMPANY with new cockpit , new engine, and other parts, I think you can buy this item in a good shop of modellers the number is 7206, or you can buy directly.

Good Job

There is a resin upgrade set for the P-36 from Starfighter Decals:

There was someone that did a pretty comprehensive landing gear bay set (including the duct work from the wingroot intakes) but darned if I can remember who made it. It may have been Modelart, but I'm not sure.

Hi there

Well a very loong time ago I bought in a local hobbie store a Hi Tech set for French Air Force Bearcats F8F and if my memory don´t fail me it included resin and eteched sets for cockpit, wheel pits, the engine and weapons (fuel tanks, bombs and rockets), also included the Photo recon parts and the decals all in 1/72 scale

This detail set was design for the Monogram kit

Best regards

Armando

Guys, thanks for the gen, I'll look into either the Cobra and Hi-Tech sets, I know the latter are a bit rare these days but you never know, I don't know if Cobra are still going either, there was a time the only place you could get their stuff was from them direct... ...mmm!

I'll look into the Starfighter set for the P-36, I don't know much about the type, I think I'll start another thread on that.
