kolibri282 Posted May 8, 2013 Posted May 8, 2013 Hello Everyone, I've been building 1/72 scale WW2 German weaponry for decades now and I'm very interested in German Radar systems..I have the 3 Extratech models of Freya,Wurzburg Giant and the Mobile Wurzburg. Recently though I have discovered there were numerous other Radar systems especially used by the German Navy in WW2. In particular I have discovered a quite amazing looking radar set-up I intend to build from scratch if I can find enough decent information on it. Dimensional details and plans would be priceless. The radar I refer to is the FuMO 201/2 armoured cupola Flakleit g Elisabeth. This would be quite something in ANY diorama if it was modelled well. I found a few basic dimensional details online today, but I really need a few pictures from different angles to see the construction of the structure. Looking at the aerial arrays they seem to be built around a basic frame although they would need considerable work to give the impression of girders and such. It's the wiring and the armored base that I need more details of and possible close up shots of. I undertsand this radar was unique and used for gun ranging. It also appears to be a very unusual subject with not a lot of information available. It obviously sat on an armoured base which could rotate and both radar arrays could move vertically. Does anyone know the history of this radar? Any information would be greatly appreciated! Steve in the USA
