Jessica
Some of these are ancient and were very dusty. I gave them a washing off and something weird happened; a strange whitish deposit formed on them as they dried. It's more visible on some than on others. I tried washing it off with soap, but it didn't have much of an effect. The hull red reacted particularly badly I can't claim that these models are of equal standard to most of the other fine builds which have graced this site. Anyway, we'll go sort of by timeline, type and nationality, maybe. First the conventional boats US Navy Balao Class SS, Blue Water Navy resin kit Type XXI U-boat, AFV Club kit looking a bit knocked about, The forward dive planes are a sloppy fit because they're designed to be movable. I see that I've put one out of alignment. Post SOUP RCN O-Boat, Resin Shipyard kit Now for the Nukes. First of them all, USS Nautilus SSN, Combat Sub kit First Soviet Nuke, PLA K3, Zvezda kit USS Skipjack SSN, Blue Water Navy kit USS Sturgeon SSN, Blue Water Navy kit USS Los Angeles class SSN, DML first issue kit from 1990, heavily modified over the years to something approximating the flight III configuration USS Seawolf SSN, Bronco kit K? Akula PLA, Blue Water Navy kit modified a bit to make it a little more accurate Trafalgar class SSN, Airfix kit HMS Astute SSN, Bronco kit Now for the boomers. USS George Washington SSBN, Blue Water Navy kit USS Simon Bolivar SSBN, Blue Water Navy kit USS Ohio SSBN, first issue DML kit from 1990 K-19 PLARB, Zvezda kit K-141 Kursk PLARK, Zvezda kit This one really reacted to the washing. K-407 Novomoskovsk PLARB, Alanger kit. This kit is less than accurate HMS Vanguard, SSBN, Bronco kit Le Triomphant SNLE, Bronco kit
Forlornhope
That is quite a collection of subs you have there, I'm not sure what would be causing the whiteness, maybe it will disapear under acoat of future then give it a coat of matt, others probably have better ideas though. thanks for sharing Cheers Callum
