1/350 submarines, various kits I've done over the years

Recommended Posts

Some of these are ancient and were very dusty. I gave them a washing off and something weird happened; a strange whitish deposit formed on them as they dried. It's more visible on some than on others. I tried washing it off with soap, but it didn't have much of an effect. The hull red reacted particularly badly :(

I can't claim that these models are of equal standard to most of the other fine builds which have graced this site.

Anyway, we'll go sort of by timeline, type and nationality, maybe. First the conventional boats

US Navy Balao Class SS, Blue Water Navy resin kit

Type XXI U-boat, AFV Club kit looking a bit knocked about, The forward dive planes are a sloppy fit because they're designed to be movable. I see that I've put one out of alignment.

That is quite a collection of subs you have there, I'm not sure what would be causing the whiteness, maybe it will disapear under acoat of future then give it a coat of matt, others probably have better ideas though.

thanks for sharing

Cheers Callum
