Rabbit Leader
All, Just noticed that Hannants have listed 2 sheets of Xtradecal 1/48 Javelin decals as "Future releases". See links http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/X48125 & http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/X48126 Looks like options for No's 5, 6(?), 23, 25, 29, 33, 60, 64, & 85 Squadrons. Not sure what the No. 6 Sqd option is.. thought they were flying Venoms & Canberras in the Desert somewhere.. Could be a slight typo. All we need now is the kit.. Cheers.. Dave.
MikeC
According to Jefford 6 Sqn were flying Canberra B16s from Akrotiri in 1963. As for Javelin Mk 9s, 60 were at Tengah, Singapore in 1963; 64 at Binbrook, having left Waterbeach (not Wattisham) in 1962. Other FAW9 sqns were 5,11,23,25,29 & 33, none of whom were at Wattisham in 1963. Only 29 went there, and I suspect that was without Javelins as it was May 1967 when they converted to Lightnings. As you say, a slight typo perhaps ...
Jon Freeman
Hi guys the 6 Sqn option is a typo and it is in fact XH966 from 41 Sqn and the two sheets are a mixture of Mk.7, 8, 9 & 9R options. Yours Jon

Yours Jon Mk7? Do Hannants know of someone doing aftermarket rear ends? I hope they decide to do the decals in 1/72 scale too, would solve a couple of problems for me anyway. Duncan B Perhaps Airfix is going to produce a conversion set all on their own - ala Valiant PR / Tanker?? I'm sure it will sell.. Cheers.. Dave. That would certainly be a good idea for them to do, spread the options around a bit. Duncan B
BlackBart
Does anyone know what the kit options are going to be?
Rabbit Leader
Does anyone know what the kit options are going to be? Dear BlackBart, From glancing through the 2013 Catalogue at my LHS, I believe the kit options are 64, 228 OCU and what what listed as 3 Squadron? (However by my research No. 3 Sqd only used the FAW.4 variant). Perhaps its a typo for No. 5 Squadron. One thing for sure, you can bet that like all modern Airfix kits - the decal sheet will be fantastic. Bet you'd never thought anyone would have said that a few years ago !! Cheers.. Dave. tonyot
I`ll definitely buy the sheet with the 5 Sqn option and I really fancy making the overall metal Winco`s aircraft too, plus a conversion set for a FAW.4 to allow a 3 Sqn one to be built too would be great (but perhaps not for my wallet!). Maybe Ali at A2Zee might consider doing some Javelin conversions, it would be great if he did? All the best Tony O
Caerbannog
I just hope to be somehow able to build FAW9 XH897 - the red and white A&AEE
