Pat C
Nice one Colin - it looks great in that scheme. Come to think of it I think most aircraft would look good in that scheme! Pat
nicE1
Just found out that this plane was based at "Lee-on-Solent" during the sixties! where I used to live!!
Hobo
Missed this the first time around - very beautiful result. I've just learned about these "Admiral's Barges" schemes and they are really beautiful aircraft. From what I have been able to gather, these schemes also appeared on the Wessex (green), Sea Harrier (blue), Sea Hawk (green), and Hunter (blue). I'm probably missing some aircraft, so if anyone has any more information and photos, it would be appreciated.
rob Lyttle
@Hobo I can tell you that the boss at RAF Leuchars had a Javelin in natural Metal finish. I think it's the only javelin airframe in this style. His initials were GHB, something like George Beaton...? They're emblazoned on the tail fin. Meatbox8
It really dies look very striking in that scheme. Handy if the Admiral is doing a surprise inspection of your airfield. At least you can start tidying up while he taxis in.
