1/48 Eduard FW190A-8

Recommended Posts

Just finished and ready for inspection is this Eduard FW190A-8. As many others have experienced - this kit looks the biz when you open the box but it was plagued with fit issues all the way through the build and tested my patience to the limit!! Glad to have it done and quite pleased with the result. Brush painted with Model Master enamels and Humbrol acrylic (cowling) and decals from Eagle Strike - I chose the scheme simply to hide the unsightly wing-fuselage join and the surgery I had to do on the cannon covers!! The armour plates were made from an empty toothpaste tube! Another good learning experience and I now know of some pitfalls to avoid on the Eduard A-6 and F-8 I have in the stash!!

Wow get out of town! Brush painted- amazing job. Could i ask how you achieved the mottle effect so well?

Hi flyingpiggy - thanks for comment - to create the mottle I used a fine 3/0 brush cut down to about 3-4mm of bristle. I then used very thin paint and literally dab this, building up in thin coats until the desired effect is achieved. I do the same at the edges of the camouflage to soften the demarcation line.
