Peter Marshall
Today's work on the Tomcat First lightening some panels Then a coat of klear over the top Then on with the decals - did have to touch up the fins, as always seems to be the case with Sundowner's fins Peter

Peter Marshall
Today's work on the kitty, first up some salt weathering - damped down, sprinkled with salt then allowed to dryThen lightened and darkened base coat sprayed randomly over the surface, then the salt washed offMore masking, for the anti-glare panel then sprayed matt blackUnmasked the central windscreen, then sprayed with Alclad Armoured Glass - it looks bettter now it's dried fullyFinally made up all the landing gear and missiles ( 6 AIM-54's and 2 AIM-9L ), ready for spraying with gloss white tomorrowPeter
Parabat
Looking good, I'm too scared to try the salt weathering just yet! Good stuff. Not sure I'd you're aware or concerned by it, but the raised bands around the AIM-54's is spurious and ahould be sanded smooth.
Peter Marshall
Thanks for the tip about the AIM-54's - if it was after paint I wouldn't bother, but it's just in time so i'll sand the bands off tomorrow. Peter
DannyB
Looking good Peter. The salt weathering is really effective! Might just have to give it go.

Peter Marshall
Right, today's work - first lots of insignia white Then unmasked the gloves and the metal leading edges Fitted and weathered the landing gear On with the wheels Put all the decals on the missiles Finally fun with Alclad on the exhaust nozzles Peter

tomprobert
Looks like a nice kit and you're doing a fine job of it! I have the 1/72nd version but may well upgrade to the 1/48th kit going by this build. Tom
Peter Marshall
Well the last bit done today- first adding the Missiles Then painting the seats - first the basic painting Then weathered the seats Then it's finished - RFI available here

tomprobert
That is rather lovely - a thoroughly enjoyable build thread too. It looks like a nice kit and you've certainly done it justice. Tom
attman007
Gotta love a Sundowners F-14, very nicely done
MarcV
The F-14 looks great. Any idea if VF-111 ever had grey/white Tomcats? Some more detail on the salt weathering would be great. Do you wet it with water or what? Thanks,

logical
If mine ends up looking half as good as this then I'll be happy. I do like the Sundowners markings.
